Tiger's Eye: Spiritual Meaning, Powers And Uses

Color:

Tiger's eye typically comes in shades of brown-yellow, blue, and reddish-brown. Its color variations are rich, including golden brown, reddish-brown, golden yellow, bronze, and brown, often with different shades of parallel bands or stripes. Golden brown is the most common color, with patterns and tones similar to a tiger, hence the name. However, tiger's eye can also appear in blue and green varieties, although they are less common.

Structure:

Tiger's eye is a quartz aggregate, an amorphous mineral, with a fine fibrous structure. If polished into a cabochon perpendicular to the fiber direction, a parallel-moving "eye" will appear on the arc surface. Its structure is composed of oriented mineral fibers, such as crocidolite, which are completely replaced by quartz bodies without disrupting the original fiber form. The fibrous inclusions in tiger's eye are usually composed of mineral fibers, like crocidolite, which naturally exist and can be embedded in quartz. Over time, crocidolite is replaced by minerals like quartz, forming the unique cat's eye effect.

Origin:

The world's largest tiger's eye deposits are scattered in Africa, especially in the Transvaal province of South Africa, which is the national gemstone of South Africa. In addition, India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Namibia, and Australia also produce tiger's eye. Similar tiger's eye deposits have also been found in Xichuan County, Henan Province, China.

Cat's Eye Effect:

One of the most distinctive features of tiger's eye is its cat's eye effect, where a bright band of light can be seen on the surface of the gemstone, moving with the movement of the gemstone, similar to a cat's eye. This effect is caused by the reflection of light by the parallel fibrous structure inside the gemstone.
